Turning Point
I always thought I was good at sports, but not great. I wanted to be great. Crossfit taught me what great looks like. It wasn't about being the perfect clothing size, the fastest runner or the strongest person. It was about being the best version of myself. Also asking myself 'am I better than yesterday?'
Asking myself, 'Did I do the best I could do today?' Crossfit has taken my on a journey to be the healthiest I can be...and not judge that by a number on the scale but by how I feel. Do I feel strong? Do I have energy? Do I feel healthy? To get that yes answer I need to eat healthy, sleep and workout. I am not always perfect but I strive to be the best me I can be. And sometimes that means eating chocolate cake!
Motivation & Passion
I remember wanting to coach Crossfit because I loved it and wanted to share it with others. Don't get me started I can talk about Crossfit...but I remember saying to other coaches I need to wait until I can get a strict pull up or get a double under together, or get a muscle up. Multiple coaches responded you don't need that to be a coach. You need to understand the mechanics and skills to get there, you need to be humble and ask for help, and you need to understand that it's a journey. A year after starting Crossfit I signed up...I could only do 1 DU and no pull ups (not even kipping). The class taught me how to be a better Crossfitter and how to keep my athletes safe. I still look up articles and how to's and ask other coaches for help.
I love helping someone get their first double under, their first hspu...but want motivates me most is to see how someone progresses in the sport by the whole community that is BWCF. I am a good coach, but I am a better coach with the help of all the coaches of BWCF.
